FARM Illinois Plans for the Future
Illinois’ agriculture, food and business industries could emerge as the nation’s and world’s food innovation capital. Farm and Agricultural Road Map (FARM) Illinois, a coalition of industry representatives, plans to implement a strategy aimed at achieving that goal.
Illinois Farm Bureau President Richard Guebert Jr. serves as a member of the FARM Illinois leadership council.
The FARM Illinois strategy involves creating a state food and agriculture council to spearhead strategy implementation and development. Other goals include:
- Forming a higher education food and agriculture consortium to attract top students and enhance related academic programs;
- Hosting a global food and agriculture summit in Chicago, starting in 2018; and
- Developing an Illinois “brand” that includes the food and agriculture industries.
