Comic book fans from around the world descend upon the small southern Illinois town of Metropolis each June for the annual Superman Celebration.
Dubbed the Official Home of Superman, Metropolis (population 6,500) sees around 30,000 visitors during the four-day festival. Activities include Man of Steel exhibitions and contests, an amusement park, live music and a superhero costume contest. Celebrities from film, TV and comics will also be on hand to sign autographs and speak on panels.
