Illinois Harvest Dinner

In an effort to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers, three female Illinois farmers seek to carry the conversation around the dinner table.

In conjunction with the Illinois Agricultural Resource Council, Mary Mackinson Faber, Katie Pratt and Jenny Schweigert founded the Illinois Harvest Dinner with the mission to connect people to the hardworking farmers who produce their food, fuel and fiber.

The inaugural dinner in 2015 included everyone from parents to government officials to medical staff to dietitians. The organizers encouraged guests to ask their most pressing questions about food, prompting healthy agricultural dialogue.

This year’s dinner takes place Sept. 7 at Tri Pork Farms in Elkhart.
